Why not spend the extra $50-$60 and get the smoker box that attaches to the side of this grill? I have the Chargriller Trio, which has, from left to right, a side burner, three-burner gas grill, charcoal grill, and side firebox.
The firebox is easy enough to attach. You'd put your fire in the firebox, your meat on the charcoal grill (with a drip pan underneath), and control your fire to keep it around 225 degrees for the cooking time needed for your meat.
