water smokers vs. offset

i currently own an offset smoker, but i am looking at a product that is a custom made "box" style smoker with the fire directly below the grate and a water pan in between. i know this is a popular style of smoker, but have never used it before. does anyone have experience with these or any advice on using one. do they work well? better? i like this particular model because it also has a secondary charcoal grate so it can be used as a grill as well as a smoker. www.southernstylecookers.com is the company that makes them.

thanks,
matt
