H Burner instead of a Bar?

I have a 10 year old "cheapy" propane grill that's just been through its second burner. While cruizing the isles at the big boy toy store (Home Depot), I found an H style burner that would fit nicely in the bottom of my grill in place of the original 18" bar style. There would be at least 1.5-2 inches of clearance on all sides of the H-burner after installation.
Is there any reason that I shouldn't be able to use this H-burner in hopes of a bit more even heating?
Thanks for your input!
