OK, Took me a while to remember to ask. Today I was at my local Propane dealer to get a couple grill tanks refilled and posed the question to one of the guys working there.

The large whole house tank has a much higher pressure and a regulator should/must be added near the grill to lower the pressure so not to run very high temps or even worse cause a life threatening issue.

Sorry rubicam, but when I posted that info I thought that was what I was told by someone in the industry.
