I shifted from a Weber to the Blue Ember almost 2 years ago. You can see my comments below from that time.

At this juncture, I will say I am very happy with the grill! It outperforms the Weber in that the grate heights are adjustable, and mine came with a roto. The built in light is also a big plus.

I don't think it controls flair ups as well as my old Weber, but they've only been an issue a couple of times.

The one weakness the design has is now fixed. The drip pan that came with mine was cheap, thin metal and it rusted out at about 1 year. They warrantied it and sent another. It just rusted out too and I now have the new, re-designed, stainless drip tray - a huge improvement!

My experiences with the service has been good both times. Fast responses and friendly people to help. This has been a hallmark of Weber, but the BE service has been good for me.

If cost is a factor, as it was for me, then my $400 Blue Ember is a much better deal than the $600-$700 Genesis.
