They do not eliminate flare ups but rather keep them more closely controlled. I can tell you first hand that if you're careless you can still incinerate your food. What the Genesis will give you is a level of control you have not yet exoerienced. You will also learn to appreciate it and once experienced nothing less will ever do again.
