Mine were enameled and lasted only 18 months, that is why I am disgusted, fyi read Ricks comment that he has to change bars every other year, AND YES, my grill is outside in the deck of my house in N. Carolina all year long because I grill 5 out of the 7 days of the week. That is why I bought a Weber, because the enameled red top and aluminum
outerpart is resistant and the configuration of burners and flavor bars eliminates the flair ups of other grills. But that does not mean that I am a loyal Weber owner freik and bow down to their product, it is a good grill and on the same deck I have a Brinkmann Pro Charcoal grill that is heavy and good and a little stainless steel Holland Companion that work great too!! Now I put these super heavy better than Weber original St.Steel bars and am very happy, will repond in about a year if they still hold up.
