For what it's worth to anybody, I posted a message a week ago about this subject and got some replies to where to get the weber original bars. A friend at work told me about a metalworker on ebay that sells these bars that are better than the Webers. I bought them and they arrived yesterday, they are without a doubt thicker than the Webers, these came 16 gauge and the Webers are 18 gauge stainless steel, as a matter of fact I bought the webers at a Home Depot and waited for these just to compare (I am returning the originals to H.Depot today), these weigh a lot more , you can tell difference in thickness of stainless between one an another. Price: $57.95 plus $18 UPS a total of $75, I checked on the webers and did not find any at less than $80 with shipping included. In about a year I will post on how these are doing, I am disgusted with weber because of the short life of their enamelled bars, mine were exactly 18 months old and already rusted out.
I love my weber grill, it cooks great but they could spend a little more in good parts. gv
