the heavy SS grate is considered the way to go, if they make it for your grill. The grate will turn dark, but it has a lot of mass, will sear well, will last forever. You could probably clean it every so often w/steel wool or SOS pad.
If not available, then get CI or PCI (which should last a pretty long time).
Last option would be to get the lightweight stamped ss grates.
