My husband did something dumb, how can I fix grill

Last summer, there was a wasp nest in our grill, so my husband sprayed that wasp killer stuff all inside the grill. It worked... the wasps were killed, but now there's all these chemicals in our grill! How can I clean the grill so that it's safe to cook food in again?
