I posted a reply to you on the bbq forum as well. Of the three I have only owned the Weber, but in 25 years I have owned two. The first for 22 of those 25 years. Any product I can get 22 years of use out of with basically no care gets my vote. If someone stole the one I have today, I would buy another one tomorrow.
As to the Gold. I have to tell you, I got the Gold as a gift. I would probably not have spent the extra bucks myself (I am cheap when it comes to buying things for myself) but having the ash catcher is wonderful. I have told my wife more than once that the perfect gift is something you woulnd't buy yourself, but you really love. That would be the case with stepping up to the Gold. Go for the Gold.
