The Weber smoker box is bigger than most of the others I've seen. Those slide out trays tend to be very shallow and will only hold chips. I have seen the chunks at Home Depot, and most of them will fit in the Weber Smoker. Some of the chunks are too large, and I will break them in half with a hatchet, but most will fit in the Weber smoker box.
The Weber will give you excellent performance and service for the price. They are extremely durable, as well. In the long run, you will spend very little money to keep it running like new. It will always work for you with no surprises. That is why the Weber name is so good.
There are many fine grills out there (yes, some that are better than Weber), but for the money, Weber is tough to beat.
