There is no comparison between the two grills. The FM is head and shoulders above the weber in fit, finish, performance, heat, even cooking, durability, etc. The FM's burners are about 1/4 inch thick cast stainless steel - the weber is about 1/16 inch thick...which di you think will last longer? FM has the highest BTU output per square inch of any grill that I know of. The hood design is such that 75% of the grill's surface is covered when the hood is up. Why they do not have a thermo on there is beyond me though! I looked at WEber Platinum, FM and Lynx. I ended up with a lynx and have not looked back - I chose the lynx because of its flame control system (more of a smokey taste with the pyramid shaped lava rocks). I did own a Weber prior to the Lynx and the Lynx simply cooks better - better heat control, more even heat distribution, more heat, etc. The Weber is a good grill for the money (underpowered, but good), the FM and Lynx are in another league altogether. All of them will provide many years of service - it really comes down to how much you want to spend?? There is a reason one costs 1-1.5k and the others cost 3.5k-10k....one more thing, make sure to look around as I got my Lynx about 20% off at a local hearth and patio store....good luck whichever way you go!
