From someone who has owned a Weber gas grill for years, I can tell you that after getting my Weber kettle 18 months ago, that the cover never came off the gasser the whole summer.
It's a little bit more work to use the kettle but if you like the flavor of cooking over lump charcoal, and playing with fire, it's the only way to go. (not quite ready to sell the gasser yet, it does rain some days)
