They have updated the great outdoor grill since it first came out. The gas line is plenty long enough. In fact I keep my propane cylinder about a foot and a half away from the smoker and feel fairly safe with this distance. It's at least 2 1/2 feet long. People also used to say the fire box is too small. This was true with the first generation production run of these smokers. The fire box is large enough now to accomodate enough wood chips for a one hour burn down time before you have to change the chips out and refill for your second hour of smoking. If you're smoking for a third hour you don't know much about Q because that will oversmoke your meat and yes, even a 16 pound brisket. You can get a good 1/8 inch smoke ring with 2 hours worth of chip burn down. This smoker makes great Q. No doubt about that. Every bit as good as my WSM bullet.
The smoker comes in either charcoal or LP form and I'm really happy with the build quality. It comes with an instructional video hosted by Lloyd Davenport who used to be a top place finisher in the Q circuit awhile back. The temps on this thing will hold at a rock steady 250 box temp to give a 171 degree internal temp on a medium thickness brisket. The best part of this smoker is that you don't have to babysit it like a charcoal smoker. Just fill your water pan, fill your chip box, fire it up until it starts smoking, close down the damper on top a bit and put your meat in. It's that simple.
