I wouldn't take Consumer Reports as the last word on anything. Knowing nothing about the products they rate has never stopped them or even slowed them down. They have onstaff testers who decide what features are important to a product and how those features are supposed to work and then rank the products based on their interpretation of better or worse. One area I used to have some expertise in was high end 35mm cameras. People I knew that were making a living with their cameras, or aspiring to, routinely laughed at what CR considered important and how they rated products. I use them to rate toasters, blenders, irons, etc. but any kind of specialized product I want other opinions. Like the kind of opinions you can get here for instance.
