This monster from Barbeques Galore looks like an excellent charcoal grill. Alton Brown chose this one for one of his TV shows. It's heavy steel, has sliding charcoal trays, and the charcoal level cranks up and down. I have not cooked on one, but I have seen it in the stores. It's not cheap, but it seems like a great design.
The sliding trays make indirect cooking a dream. The grates are cast iron. The adjustable charcoal level will provide instant heat control. This grill looks like it's built to last.
Other than this, Weber Kettles are well regarded and cost about a third as much. Can't say enough good things about Webers.
