I looked at quite a few charcoal grills before deciding on the Chargriller about 3 years ago. It has served me well. So well, in fact that yesterday I bought the side fire box for it, even though I have a separate vertical smoker.
I've found the 4 piece cast iron grate ideal for managing the fire. Just remove a section to add more coals, wood chunks, etc. For example, for beer can chicken, I set up the two center grates and leave out the 2 outside grates. Then, just dump in a few more coals on either side, if needed.
Also, like the adjustable charcoal pan. Set it high for searing, set it low for slow cooking or set it somewhere inbetween, as needed.
If I needed to buy a second charcoal grill, there's no doubt that I'd buy another Chargriller.
Lowes price yesterday was $119 without the SFB. The SFB was $49.97. BTW, I had to buy a new cover due to adding the SFB. That was $19.97. Hated to make that purchase, since the one I already has is still in great condition, after 3 years in the weather.
Hope this info is helpful for your decision.
