I think we're in the same boat about trying to justify new toys. Fact is, the Smokey Joe serves me extremely well. I want something small, light, and inexpensive to tote to games. Also, it so happens that you can get them extremely hot and they do last (as long as you don't actually drive over them with your car). I am tempted by the novelty, though, plus I wonder if the cast iron will sear really nicely...
