well i've played with a few grills. i was in the same position as you a few months ago. i bought a bbchef off set smoker. it has charcoal grates for the offset and the horizontal chamber so if i want to grill on it i can. truth is i keep coming back to the kettle. i have a performer. the weber is better at maintaining temp for sure. the only draw back of the weber, really, is size. how about a bank of 2 or even 3 weber kettles. add in a wsm for smoking and i think you have a very productive and efficient system. of course the cool factor wont be there untill they make one out of 1/4" steel or stainless steel with some big shiny knobs to drool over... to make a long story short, imho, you may find that replacing the kettle isn't exactly "kicking it up a notch"
