I use the Weber fire starter cubes from Home depot. They are aparrafin cube about 1"x1", place one or two under the chimney and they'll burn for about 20 minutes and really get your charcoal going.
24 cubes for around $2.50. Home Depot, Target, usually any place Weber's are sold.
