My opinion on this is that the Genesis Silver line is a great grill, however, when you want to do something like indirect cooking you will have difficulty doing so. With the knobs on the side, the burners run horizontially which creates a direct cooking effect over the entire width of the grill. Weber smartened up when they went to the higher end and they put the burners vertically and the knobs on the front. But, for a minimum of $600 more than the Genesis Silver, I would still buy the Genesis because it still does what it is supposed to do, put fire to meat...
