I have the coated cast iron and they put some nice grill marks on meat. I personally like the weight of the cast iron because they dont move around when I am flipping the meat over like with other grills that I had. I have read that the coating will eventually chip off but I have not experienced that yet. I believe the stainless will probably last longer than the cast iron though but I am happy with the cast iron.
