I have a Platinum. Love it. Does the Ash-Catcher affect the breathing of the coals. Not if you empty the ash regularly. If you let the ash build up it could. Just empty it after each grillng or so. Just remember to let it have ample time to cool. I allow for 24 hours ATLEAST. I've emptied it once after 12 hours. Nearly set my deck on fire with banked coal that was still hot.
