My red Habaneros have been ripening lately, the bushes look like Christmas trees. I must have done a good job or they must be the easiest things to grow- my thoughts are on the latter.
I thought I'd make a home made hotsauce so I got out the blender, some garlic, some carrots (canned) vinager and salt. I blended that thing and made something that, I swear, will take paint off your porch. So I cooked it out on the gas grill as not to fumigate the house and after 5 minutes of a slow rolling boil I bottled it. I now have an orange watery syrup of the nastiest stuff I've ever smelled and it just tastes like acid and vinager, not pleasant to say the least.
My next move is going to be to mix that in with either ketchup or a bbq sauce to kill the taste but keep the heat. What would you guys do with this stuff to save it and how can I make a decent hot sauce out of red habaneros next time?
Oh, my head- I'm scared to open the bottle again
