That is my prefered method, Lee... I have the steaks, partially defrosted, so the oputside is soft (un-forzen) and the inside is rock hard... I feel the sear is better this way. If you throw a completely frozen piece of meat on the grill, the searing just doesn't happen properly... Plus the fact that you can't get any spices to adhere, if it is completely frozen. Also, if I start off with a piece of meat right out of the fridge, I will season it up and then throw it in the freezer for 45-60 minutes... Depending on the thickness.
